Environmental Day




World Environmental Day Celebrated on June 5 at the school. The Programme began with principal Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal planting saplings in the campus. The students then assembled at the school quadrangle for a special assembly comprising about 1200 students from classes III to X. The school choir presented an inspiring song and about 10 students of class VIII and IX presented a thought provoking skit depicting the importance of protecting the environment. The skit emphasized that it is every one’s responsibility to keep the surroundings clean, save water, save energy and grow trees. Before the principal delivered the concluding speech, one student and one staff member spoke on the subject of environment. The programme was attended by vice principal Chabbi Mandal, headmaster A N Giribabu, school administrative officer B R Mourya, school physical education director B D Jena, 80 staff members and 500 students.

Art Exhibition




Art Exhibition celebrated at BGS World School. The Programme began with principal Wg Cdr Ranjit Mandal and Mr Prashant Jha the trainer of Tech Avante Guard was the chief guest of the event. The students, Teachers and Parents have attended the day long programme.

Yoga Day




Acknowledged the world over as an effective stress-buster, students at BGS World School learn the asanas from district president of Patanjali Yoga Samiti Govind, president of Bharath Swabhiman, Chickballapur. About 500 students from class III to X, 30 teachers including the school principal Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal and two physical education teachers participated in yoga activities and performed asanas and pranayamas. About 50 teachers and 800 students of the senior wing of the school witnessed the programme from these, students also benefit from the breathing exercises that train them in proper inhalation and exhalation of breath.

Inter House Robotics Exhibition




The Inter House Robotics Exhibition was celebrated on December 2018 at BGS World School, Chickballapur. The students of three different zones namely BGS World School Nagrur, BGS Model Public School, Bangalore and BGS World School, Chickballapur were participated.The Chief guest of the ceremony was Mr David, the Head of Robotics Team, Karnataka.The guest of honour of the programme were Dr Shivarama Reddy, Chief Administrative Officer, Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust and Dr Ravi Kumar, Principal, SJC Institute of Technology, Chickballapur.

All the school students of Chickballapur District have visited the Robotics Exhibition and the best model award goes to BGS World School, Nagrur and the best on stage performance goes to BGS World School Chickballapur and the best code Implementation award goes to BGS Model Public School, Bangalore and finally all the teachers and students of BGS WOrld School have witnessed the day long Programme.

BGS WORLD SCHOOL CHICKBALLAPUR HOLDS 11TH INVESTITURE CEREMONY TO APPOINT THE MEMBERS FOR STUDENTS’ COUNCIL




The BGS World School, Chickballapur has held its 11th Investiture Ceremony on 12 Jun 2018 in its festively decorated school premises of 21 acres sprawling Gnana Ganga Campus at Chickballapur. The ceremony, meant for appointing its student leaders for the academic session 2018-19, was organized meticulously by the school in the true pattern of a Public School.

The chief guest of the ceremony was Dr Vekatesh Thuppil, Professor Emeritus and Advisor Quality Control of India and also popularly known as ‘Lead Man of India’. Mr M G Kodandaram, IRS (Retd), Former Assistant Director National Academy of Customs, Indirect Tax and Narcotic (NACEN), and Dr N Shivarama Reddy, the Chief Administrative Officer Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, Chickballapur and Kolar Region; Mr Ali Sait, CEO, Tech Avant Grade and Mr N Rajashekar, Former General Manager, The Hindu NEWS Paper and Presently working as Director marketing with Tech Avant Grade were the guests of honour. The principals of four other World Schools of the group being run in Karnataka were also present in the programme.

The ceremony commenced with a melodious invocation of goddess Swaraswati by two students of VIII standard and presentation of School Anthem by school choir. After the lighting of the auspicious lamp Wing Commander Ranjit Kumar Mandal (Retd), Principal of the school, delivered the introductory address wherein he mentioned about the background of public school system in India and the role of Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC) in promotion of quality elementary education in India. He highlighted about the transparent selection process that is followed in the BGS World School for selection of the school captains. He emphasised that the students get the opportunity to inculcate the spirit of leadership through assuming the additional responsibility.

The school conferred on Miss Gana Reddy (IX) the appointment of School Captain. Master Manasa Gowda (IX) was awarded the badge of the School Vice Captain. Miss Harsharani and Miss Ramya (both class IX) were conferred the appointment of the School Cultural Captain and the Vice Cultural Captain respectively. While Master Pruthivi and Miss Kavitha (both class IX) were appointed as the School Sports Captain and Vice Captain respectively, four students namely Gowthami, Shreya, Ajay and Balaji (all Class IX) were appointed as the Eco-Warriors who would take care of the Environment aspects of the school. Four students of IX standard were also appointed as the House Captains of four Houses namely – Buddha, Ashoka, Einstein and Kuvempu House.

After the award of the rank badges, Dr N Shivram Reddy administered the oath of allegiance to 26 captains and the school Principal Wg Cdr Ranjit Kr Mandal handed over the School Flag and four House Flags to the School Captain and four House Captains respectively.

On this occasion the school felicitated of the toppers of the preceding X class Miss Chethana S who scored 97.33% of marks by 100 in Computer Science. The school recognized the achievement two other students those who scored Cent-Percent marks in Computer Science. They are Rakshitha B Gowda who also stood 2nd by securing 96% marks and Bhumika G S who secured 88% marks. The chief guest also felicitated four students of this school namely Nischith J, Lakshman B K, Karthik G and Kushal Vishwa C N who have received the Governor Award on 3rd February 2018 at Rajbhavan, Bangalore from the Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala for their excellence in the Bharat Scouts and Guides. The Chief guest specially felicitated three students namely Karthik Raj (VII), Keerthi Narayan M V (VII) and Lohith Kumar R (IX) who would be leaving for Canada to attend the ‘RoboCup Completion and Symposium 2018’ from 16 – 22 June 2018.

On this occasion, the school declared itself as the ‘Twenty First Century Ready School’ with collaboration of Microsoft. Mr Ali Sait, the CEO of Tech Avant Garde who spoke about the various Apps the school has activated in the school for administrative and academic purposes. The Chief Guest of the ceremony advised the students to have the spirit of patriotism all the time in their mind. He emphasised that it should be their approach to devote themselves for the interest of the nation. The guest of honour Dr N Shivrama Reddy advised the students to do everything as perfectly as possible. He highlighted that doing everything perfectly, whatever may be, opens up the door of higher responsibility. At the end of the ceremony about 150 students presented an enthralling cultural programme including dances, patriotic songs accompanied by the school orchestra led by music teacher Mr Ben Ryan. The programme was attended by about 500 students, 100 staff members including the vice principal Mrs Chhabi Mandal, Headmaster Mr Giribabu, School Project Manager Mr BD Jena, 500 students and large number parents.

72nd Independence Day




BGS WORLD SCHOOL celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with zeal and spirit befitting the occasion. Sri Sri Mangalnath Swamiji, Secretary Adichunchungiri Shiksha Matt, Chickballapur was the chief guest of the programme. He hoisted the national flag in the school ground at 7:30am.All the teachers and students saluted the national flag and sang the national anthem and vande mataram.Principal Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal in his speech told about the supreme sacrifice the great leaders gave for the sake of our freedom, He exhorted the students to follow the ideals of those leaders. Uday kiran N, school vice captain spoke about the importance of the day. The students of choir group sang the patriotic song that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our mother land. Then followed the cultural programme. Students presented patriotic dances and songs. A large number of students and teachers were present in the programme. It ended with sweet distribution.

Scholastic book fair




A book fair was organized by BGS World School, Chickballapur from 22 to 24 Dec 2018 in the school premises with the support of ‘The Scholastic India Ltd’, New Delhi, a renowned book exhibition organization in India. It is an annual feature for the school where in the students from Nursery to X standard get an opportunity to select and buy book of their choice. The fair was inaugurated through a brief ceremony by Wg Cdr Ranjit Kr Mandal, the Principal of the school, in presence of staff members and senior class students of the school. He, in his speech, highlighted the importance of reading books other than the text books and the need of conducting such exhibitions in schools, exclusively for school children. As the fair coincided with the Parent-Teachers’ Meeting, a large number of parents took the opportunity to help their wards to select books. Besides the interesting range of books, the children bought some interesting worksheet in which the teachers also involved themselves in completing them as per the school schedule. The programme proved to be a very useful event and the Scholastic India representatives thanked the school authority for giving them the opportunity to display their products.

The Fastrak Kids Read For The Record 2018 was celebrated at BGS World School, Chickballapur. We believe that a child is born with potential to be sucessful. Fastrackids programme build your child's life long learning skills that are essential for bright future. In this event the Nursery students were participated and conducted different activities like wall painting, Street Dancing, salsa Music and Story Telling. The students focus on the critical thinking, creativity, communication,collaboration and confidence. The Fastrack kids understand how a child is smart and active in their daily routines.

Graduation Day




BGS World School, Chickballapur has held its graduation ceremony to bid farewell to its 66 students of X class and 173 students of UKG in the school premises who will be passing out from the school at the end of this academic session. The ceremony was presided over by Sri Sri Mangalanatha Swamiji, secretary of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Shikshana Mutt, Chickballapur. The Chief guest of the ceremony was Mr Gangappa Gowda, the former Director of Public Instruction, Karnataka and who is currently the Karnataka State Secretary, Scouts and Guides. The guest of honour of the programme were Dr Shivarama Reddy, Chief Administrative Officer, Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust and Dr Ravi Kumar, Principal, SJC Institute of Technology, Chickballapur.

The graduating students of X class were given a school memento each and the students of UKG class were given a certificate of merit mentioning their participation and performance in the school activities. The chief Guest of the ceremony also awarded the Championship House and Runners Up House trophy to Enstein House and Buddha House respectively. Among individuals achievement trophy winners were Ms Ananya N Swamy (Class VIII), who brought the global fame to the school, the State of Karnataka as well as the country by winning the " International Master of Memory (IMM) " title. She has been the only participant of memory sport in the 27 year's history to receive the title in the first attempt. She is also the youngest among the 6 recepients of India to receive this title. The other receipients were Chinmay Krishna (Class VI) who has represented the school in the 27th World Memory Championship and performed well, Neha Sulthana (Class V) who won the National Gold as well a Silver Medal, Miss Chethana being topper of ICSE Examination 2018, Rakshitha best overall for the year 2017-18, Manoj K best of Sports.

Principal of the school Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal who has led a team of students and staff to the 9th National Championship at Hyderabad in October and in the 27th International Memory Championship at Hong Kong mad presentation to the parents on Memory Sport. He mentioned that the school has been making all out efforts to make education joyful experience for the students. The two important measures the school has taken is promotion of adolescent Health and conduct of Memory Training. For the memory training, the school availed the services of Sqn Ldr Jayasimha who is the Director of Jayashimha Mind Dynamics, Hyderabad, who is the winner of 21st Guinness Book Records. Wg Cdr Mandal expressed his firm belief that the school would do well with these measures. He mentioned that the schol has arrranged memory training for all students from VI to X class and the school will continue benefit the students through this training for their academic acheivement and overall growth.

The chief guest, during his speech , expressed his happiness about the excellent performance of the school and advised the staff and students to work hard and make the students achieve their best in life. He also expressed his happiness that school has been providing opportunities to all students for all co-curricluar activities including the NCC and Scouts.

About 500 students of the schol, later, presented a cultural programmes which enthralled the about 3000 audience comprising the parents of nursery to X classes.

Republic Day




BGS World School, Chickballapur celebrated the 71st Republic Day of the country with a great pomp and show. The programme commenced in the morning in the school quadrangle and lasted for about two hours. School principal Wg Cdr Ranjit Kr Mandal, accompanied by the Vice Principal, Head Master and Administrative officers of the school unfurled the national flag. This was followed by the national anthem and the national song sung by the school choir with musical tune played by the school band. A primary class student then welcomed the guests and dignitaries through a welcome speech. It was followed by another student form class VII giving an informative speech about the Indian constitution and contributions made by freedom fighters. Thereafter, the principal of the school gave an inspiring speech speaking about the meaning and significance of the term ‘republic’ itself. Terming the constitution of India as one of the greatest constitutions in the world, he highlighted about the constitutional provisions which assures equality of opportunity for all citizens, fraternity among the citizens - irrespective of caste, creed, sex and religions - provision of free and compulsory education to all its children up to 18 years of age etc. He further stated that even after 70 years of independence of India the country has not been able to fulfill all constitutional resolutions adequately. Yet the country is reeling through the state of high rate of illiteracy among the people, ill-health of the masses, inequality and the state of discrimination prevailing in the society.

He summarized that the living condition of the common masses have not improved to the satisfactory level as yet. He, therefore, emphasized that the students of today, the future leaders of the country, have to take a vow to work with full resolute to remove all barriers of development of the country to make the country a great nation. The students of primary and the middle classes then presented a cultural programme for the audience numbering number about 1500 comprising parents, staff members and the students.

The eight mesmerizing and electrifying group dance performances stole the show. Each dance performances with the duration of 4 to 10 minutes included some heart touching beats and emotive patriotic phrases and themes. The dance events were focused on the themes of patriotism, unity in diversity, fraternity and Indian struggle and sacrifices made by every freedom fighter to win our freedom to make it a republic country. The crowd encouraged the performing students and showed their mark of appreciation by applauds.

The ceremony was presided over by Sri Sri Mangalanatha Swamiji, Secretary, Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, Chickballapur. The chief guest of the ceremony was Air Vice Marshal LN Sharma, Assistant Chief of Air Staff(Education), Air HQ, New Delhi. He was accompanied by his staff officer Sq Ldr Raja Goswami. The guests of Honour of the ceremony were Dr Ravi Kumar, Principal, SJC Institute of Technology, Chickballapur and Dr N Shivarama Reddy, the Chief Administrative Officer Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust.

On arrival the NCC cadets and Scouts & Guides students-members presented a Guard of Honour while the school band played the tune. He emphasised they could opt to join the armed forces in the officers’ cadre to serve the nation as well as to make their excellent career. He mentioned that there are lots of value addition for their families any student can do by joining the armed forces.

BGS WORLD SCHOOL CHIKBALLAPUR STUDENTS EXCELIN YOGA COMPETITION




On the occasion of ‘5th International Yoga’ celebration 2019 the BGS World School students attend several outside events and organized a large events in the school. Twenty students of BGS World School, Chickballapur participated in the “5th Karnataka State Freestyle Yoga Championship 2019” held at Jain Public School, Kanakpura, Bangalore on 18th Jun 2019. The championship was organized jointly by the Karnataka State Freestyle Yoga Association and Jain Public School under the auspices of Indian Freestyle Yoga Association. About 600 students from 10 schools participated at the Championship in individual and team participation category. There were four categories in the championship namely Under 8, Under 11, Under 14 & Under 17, Under 8 categories 8 team, Under 11 categories 10 teams, Under 14 categories 10 teams, Under 17 categories 8 teams. Each individual participant was presented to attend all the four categories and permitted with the duration of 15 seconds to present the Ashana.

The championship was inaugurated by Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal (Retd), Principal of BGS World School, Chickballapur as the Chief Guest. The guest of honour of the ceremony was Mr Venkatesh, CEO, Sri Art of Living Foundation, Bangalore. Mrs Suma Athri, the Principal, Jain Public School presided over the ceremony.

Twenty students of BGS World School, Chickballapur took part in the competition in individual event in the categories of Under 8, Under 11, Under 14 & Under 17. They bagged six gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals and the school bagged the overall runners up trophy in the competition. Later, on 21 June 2019, Yoga programme organized by 5th NCC Karnataka Battalion at SJC Institute of Technology, Chickballapur, a total of 450 NCC cadets participated. From BGS World School 25 cadets participated at the Yoga programme. Mr Ravishankar, Mr Madhappa, Mr Umesh from the Bangalore University had conducted the yoga programme for NCC Karnataka Battalion.

BGS World School has also organized program in its premises on 21 June 2019. From class VIII to IX class a total of 265 has students participated in a one hour Yoga Programme held in the school campus. Mr Govind, District President, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Mr Lokanath, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Mr Lakshman Murthy, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Mrs Veena Lokanath, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Mrs Triveni, Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Wg Cdr Ranjit Kr Mandal, Principal, BGS World School had conducted the yoga programme in the school.

DARLING HARBOUR INTERNATIONAL ROBOTICS CHAMPIONSHIP’S PARTICIPATION BY BGS WORLD SCHOOL, BANGALORE, INDIA




In the ‘RoboCup 2019’, a World Robotics Championship, held between 2nd and 8th July 2019 at International Convention Centre, Darling Harbor, Sydney, Australia, organized by ‘The Robocop Federation, Inc., USA’, the BGS World School, Chickallapur (located near Bangalore, Karnataka) India has participated for the first time. The team had participated in the ‘On-stage Category’ and the team comprised of 5 students of the age group between 13 to 14 years. The students are Master Karthik Raj (IX), Master Bhavatej Vishwanath (VIII) Miss Ananya Sarvothama (VIII) and Miss Inchara Mahantesh (VIII). The team was escorted by the principal of the school Wing Commander Ranjit Kumar Mandal (Retd), the founder principal of the school who has been working for the school for 11 years. A sound professional, a former Joint Director of Education of Indian Air Force, has not only brought the school to a greater height, the schools has made several world records within this short span of its functioning. He vision is to make the students of the school, which is located in rural area (80 Km from the Bangalore city) do the best in all possible aspects.

The BGS World School, named after a great monk Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Karnataka was established by the Swamiji himself in the year 2008, who was the founder presidents of Sri Adi Chunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, Karnataka. The school was established with an aim of making it a centre excellence. After the expiry of Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Swaimiji in 2013, Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, a highly dynamic and highly educated monk who is heading about 480 educational institutions under the Trust, took over the charge of the school and has been leading the school as its Chairman in the School Management Committee.

The BGS World School team has qualified itself for this international event after qualifying two levels of competitions in India. The first level of completion was of the ‘South Zone’ covering five states namely Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala which was held in October. Later, the school contested for the all India competition in December 2019. BGS World School team stood first in both competitions and qualified itself for this international competition. In the national level the Indian competition has been contested by 600 teams, where each school o organization could field three teams. The BGS World School also fielded 3 teams in the national level competitions. In the world competition at Sydney where 54 countries have participated, the BGS World School has participated in the ‘Junior On-stage Competition’. In this category there were 34 teams.

In the ‘On-Stage Category’ a team is supposed to present a theme based item of 5 minutes by means of making each Robot playing a character. The teams besides making the Robots perform made use of voice record, play back music etc. The theme the BGS World School team has chosen was “Necessary of Organ Donation and Organ Transplantation”. The team feels that an individual can help about 18 people living after one’s death by donating organs. After talking about the importance of organ donation, the team demonstrated through Robot as to how a team of doctors of Bangalore could send across a heart of a road accident victim to Chennai by air and the doctors of Chennai could save a life of another patient waiting for a heart transplantation. The robots showed the activities in two cities of doctors, other medical professionals, ambulances and aero plane etc. made of Robot. The fine and sharp movement of the robots, voice recorded narration and stage presentation of boys and girls of BGS World School students stole the heart of the people. The team finally left a message – “Donate Organs and Live Even After You are no More”.

The organizers have organized the Robotics competitions in Senior and Junior categories. In the senior category, the emphasis has been laid into the soccer of different types. And in the Junior there are three events namely ‘Rescue’ and ‘Maze’ and On Stage’. From India, three teams have participated this year. For the ‘On Stage Competition’, the BGS World School team had has been selected. The team had to perform three times and all three performances have been taken into account for the final ranking. The teams have presented their skills consecutive for three days from 03 – 06 July.

And as per the design the ‘On-stage’ Participants had another interesting competition to stage called ‘Super Team Competition’. On the 05 July 2019 all teams were randomly teamed with two or three countries and within two days the team prepared a combined presentation on ‘Environment’ which they had performed on 07 July 2019. All 43 participating teams have been grouped in 13 ‘Super Teams’ with three four countries. The BGS World School, India team has been placed with the countries ‘Singapore’ and ‘Italy’. Indian team boys and girls are now in serious discussions to plan for the presentation.

The BGS World school students have done very well and have felt that this competition has provided them a great opportunity and exposure. They fell that this experience has enriched them and they would do better in life. The students also felt that the principal has personally guided them well as the mentor of the programme and been benefitted by his personal grooming.

The Principal of the school Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal says, “the BGS World School, provides Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education to the students through the Robots. 10th Indian National Open Memory Championship 2019




KARNATAKA GIRL BAGS NATIONAL RUNNER UP TROPHY AND CASH PRIZE IN MEMORY CHAMPIONSHIP




BGS World School, Chickballapur student Miss Ananya N Swamy (IX) became the national second in the 10th Indian National Open Memory Championship held at Chickballapur on 12 & 13 October 2019. To win the overall runner-up trophy and cash prize of Rs. 50,000.00, she had win 04 Gold, 04 Silver and 02 Bronze medals and the champion’s trophy of Junior category.

The competition was held in 10 disciplines as - (1) Memorising Names and Faces, (2) Memorising Binary Numbers, (3) Memorising Random Numbers, (4) Memorising Abstract Images, (5) Memorising Speed Numbers, (6) Memorising Historic / Future Dates, (7) Memorising Random Playing Cards, (8) Memorising Random Words, (9) Memorising Spoken Numbers, (10) Memorising Speed Cards and each category had three medals such as gold, silver and bronze. The participants contested in 4 age categories such as kids (below 13), Junior (13-17), adult (18-59) and senior categories (60 and above) and the topper of each category were awarded the category championship trophy. Chinmay Krishna (VIII) of BGS World School also won a Bronze medal in the championship.

The 10th National Memory Championship was organized for the first time in Karnataka jointly by the World Memory Sports Council – Indian and Sri Adi Chunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, Karnataka in the BGS Engineering College in Chickballapur. While the chief Patron of the championship organizing committee were Sri Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, the President, Sri Adi Chunchanagiri Shikshana Trust and Sqn Ldr Jaysimha, the President, World Memory Sports Council – India respectively, Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal, Principal, BGS World School, Chickballapur took the responsibility of arranging it as the President of the organizing committee. The Championship was inaugurated on 12 October 2019 by Sri Sri Mangalanatha Swamiji, Secretary, Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamthana Mutt, Chickballapur, and the closing ceremony was presided over by Sri Sri Sri Nrmalanandanatha Swamiji, the president, Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust. The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Hon’ble Education Minister of Karnataka Mr Suresh Kumar. The other dignities present in the ceremony were Dr. Francis Xavier, an author and known as the father of Indian Memory Training, Sqn Ldr R Jayasimha, President, The World Memory Sport Council, India and the Managing Director, Jayasimha Mind Dynamics, Hyderabad, Dr. N Shivaram Reddy, Chief Administrative Officer, Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, Karnataka and Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal, Principal, BGS World School, Chickballapur.

From BGS World School Chickballapur a total of 190 students had participated in the Championship out of total 350 participates. Six participants from China and one participant from Baharin contested in the championship. There were about 100 other participants from Karnataka who took part in the Championship. The championship was conducted about 350 arbiters and out them about 120 were the teachers of BGS World School who had conducted the championship very smoothly. Mr Phil Chambers, the Chief Arbiter and Mr DominicO’Brian, the Chief of Ethics from World Memory Sports Council, London overviewed the conduct of the Championship.

Tony Busan, a renowned author, educational consultant, the father of memory training concept, inventor of mind mapping concept, a person who popularised the concept of mental literacy and taught the world the new way of thinking, has founded the World Memory Sports Council in London in 1991 and started the Memory Sports Championship for the whole world. “The memory sport is both a fun, valuable hobby as well as an amateur sport”, he says. At the fun end of ‘Memory’, informal competitions take place in Brain Clubs and in other Mind Sport groups taking many different forms. BGS World School believes that there are still many ways to enhance learning ability of the students of the school and one of those is through memory training. The school has gone into the memory training in a big way directly from Sqn Ldr R Jayshimha. The school has arranged regular practice sessions during the school hours under the supervision of the teachers. The school has started training of the students since last year and about 700 students from VI class to X class have taken memory training till date. The school is expected to field about 6 students in the forthcoming 28th World Memory Championship to be held in Wuhan city of China from 5 - 8 December 2019.

The BGS Wold School, Chickballapur has been training its students to enhance their academic achievement. The Principal of the school Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar is also a trained person in memory techniques. Meanwhile, Wg Cdr Ranjit Kumar Mandal’s article – Memory Literacy for Enhancement of Academic Achievement of Students – published in newsletter (Vol-IV, Issue-1) of Chickballapur, Kolar and Bangalore ICSE School’s Association, which has brought out the importance of Memory as a sport as well as the methodology of teaching for the school children have been appreciated by the readers.

BGS World School has fielded 82 students and 3 staff members in the 9th Indian National Open Memory Championship last year and won 12 medals. Later in the 27th World Memory Championship held in Hong Kong from 20 to 22 December 2018, the school was represented by 2 students and 2 staff members. Miss Ananya N Swamy received the title of ‘International Master of Memory’. Over the years Ananya has participated several tournaments at Tunisia, Philippines, Indonesia etc. and brought laurels for the country. It is expected that the 29th World Memory Championship 2020 shall be held in Indian by the World Memory Sports Council - India.
