The BGS World School, Chcikballapur, which was established in 2008, has been named after the great visionary monk of Karnataka, the 71 Pontiff of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Mutt, Padma Bibhusana Sri Sri Sri Dr Balagangadharanatha Swamiji. Sri Sri Swamiji, who was also the President of Sri Adi Chunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Trust, had established Sri Adi Chunchanagiri Shikshana Trust. The Trust is rendering a great service to the society and the BGS World School, Chickballapur was established specifically due to his vision and keen interest.
Sri Sri Sri Dr Balagangadharanatha Swamiji had a dream to uplift the society through quality education and he started his venture through establishing schools first. He had, over a period of about 30 years, established a total of 470 institutions and most them are schools. But still in the school segment, up to 2008, the BGS group had only the CBSE and the State Board Schools. This school is the first ICSE curriculum school with the nomenclature ‘World School’ under the Trust. As this school was conceived to be different by its curriculum and scope; a distinction has been attributed to the school by naming it as the ‘World School’. Now ‘BGS World School’ is the brand name for the ICSE Schools under the Trust.
The Trust, observing the unquestionably high effect of this ICSE school, has decided that any large size school that shall be established in the city or a town shall, in general, by the Trust shall be an ICSE School with ‘World School’ name. There are two more ICSE Schools established by the Trust after this school has been established. It is estimated that in next 5 years at least 10 more world schools shall come up across the country.
The BGS World School has been granted an exclusive crest unlike other schools under the Trust. The crest contains an open book and a flame signifying knowledge. It contains a peacock which is the native bird of Chunchanagiri Hill. The peacock represents the holy land ‘Sri Kshetra’ where the Mutt is located. All these signs are encircled by two rings which imply the ‘world’ – the scope of the school. The motto of the school, which is engraved in the crest, is ‘Empowerment Trough Education’.
